Title: Data Center Supervisor

Compensation: $54,000 - $58,000 + Bonus + 401(k) + Full Benefits + Paid Time Off

Location: Bridgeport, AL 35740 

 

Position Description Summary:

Responsible for the complex multi-system data processing environment at the Data Center. Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, delivering and maintain records for a variety of materials, equipment, and supplies

 

Principal Accountability:

  • Compiles special or routine reports for management regarding financial or operational matters of assigned area.

  • Analyzes various shipping/receiving records to determine priorities, assignments and work methods required to meets schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.

  • Oversees, organizes, and coordinates annual inventory process.

  • Analyzes history to resolve discrepancies between stock control records and inventory on hand; accountable for accurate, up-to-date records and stock.

  • Ensures adequate safety measures are followed to protect university property and personnel.

  • Advises subordinates with questions or problems in any aspect of work activities.

  • Organizes layout of storage/stock areas considering size, weight and related factors of items stored.

  • Monitors work and examines records for accuracy, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures.

  • Recommends and implements new or changes to procedures to improve efficiency.

  • Performs or assists subordinates in performance of duties.

  • Participates in ordering of stock items to replenish levels.

Working Environment:

Assignment Complexity  - Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Act as advisor to subordinate(s) to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems. Develop and administer budgets, schedules, and performance requirements.

Accountability - Manage through subordinate supervisors or professionals the coordination of the activities for functional area with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods, and employees.

Impact of Decisions - Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and personnel, and serious delays in overall schedules.

Working Relationships - Frequently interact with subordinates, customers, and/or functional peer managers. May interact with senior management. Interactions normally involve matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers.

Scope - Receive assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet objectives. Provide guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies. Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules. Establishes and recommends changes to policies which effect subordinate organization(s).

 

Essential Functions:

Must be able to pass any federal/state/local government, airport, or company-required background checks, clearances, and/or drug and alcohol tests.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • This is a managerial level position.
  • Solid interpersonal and analytical skills are required.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
  • Generally prefer 3-6 years' experience in material handling operations, with at least 3 years in a Supervisor level.
